Bavarian Alps

The stretch of mountain system that composes the the ranges of the Alps stretch from the eastern areas of Austria and Slovenia, cut through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Germany all the way to France in the west. Its highest point is the mountain of Mont Blanc, which reaches up to 4,808 meters or 15,774 feet.

The Bavarian Alps harbors near the German-Austrian border and stretches its snow-capped mountains along that border of Germany. The Bavarian Alps is a favored vacation destination by many skiers and snowboarders. Even those who actually do not ski still find it as the perfect place for sightseeing.

The western area of the Bavarian Alps is called the Allgau region, and is famous for its lush landscapes. The area also has patches of lakes around the mountainside and is ideal for backpackers and campers.

Famous areas to visit include the Archaeological Park Camborundums, which is an amazing opportunity for one to be immersed in the history and traditions of the Bavarian Alps for the past two millenia. Here you can find ancient ruins and archaeological finds as well as exhibits in a modern exhibition building. This area of Bavaria is also known for their music. With its many fairs and market events all year round, its easy to spot a brass band or two hailing from the different villages in the region. Folk music, or chamber music to some, is also prevalent in the area. Food and beer are also staple crowd drawers to this specific place in Europe, as Allgau is well known for its Allgau cheese.
